About the Easley Group

On July 14, 2025, first-year IBEW apprentice Matt Easley suffered life-changing injuries on the job, sustaining third-degree burns to both hands. Since then, he has endured multiple surgeries, partial amputations, and skin grafts. His story highlights the physical demands of the electrical trade and the challenges apprentices face when injuries interrupt their training.

The Easley Group was created to honor Matt’s resilience and to ensure no injured apprentice faces recovery alone.

Our Mission

  • Connect injured apprentices with journeymen who have themselves overcome serious injuries.

  • Provide remote mentoring, counseling, and encouragement during recovery.

  • Strengthen retention in the electrical field by keeping apprentices engaged with their trade.

  • Build a support system rooted in shared experience and community.

How It Works

  1. Pairing – Injured apprentices are matched with journeymen mentors who have faced and overcome similar challenges.

  2. Mentorship – Mentors provide technical guidance, emotional support, and career counseling.

  3. Connection – Support continues remotely, ensuring apprentices remain tied to the trade while they heal.

Why It Matters

The Easley Group helps apprentices continue their journey in the electrical trade, even in the face of adversity. By offering mentorship, hope, and guidance, the program ensures that injury does not end a career—it becomes part of a story of resilience and recovery.
